Online-Seminar von Erik Fisher, Arizona State University - Virtual Seminar by Erik Fisher
In this seminar, Erik Fisher will describe the political context and interdisciplinary research process that led to the development and initial testing of the STIR protocol. While the primary aim of the STIR protocol was initially and continues to be to assess the capacities of technoscientific actors to reflexively and deliberately integrate societal considerations into their routine practices, a secondary aim is to enhance these capacities as a resource for the governance of technology in society. Fisher will discuss the initial analytical aims of the STIR protocol, the multiple challenges that work against socio-technical integration, and the surprising effects produced by his pilot STIR study. Fisher will also discuss how STIR methodology was subsequently articulated in order to account for both the initial aims and the observed effects.
